COYB 2010 Nutcracker Performance Auditions Planned
Area youth encouraged to apply their dance talents and learn more about ballet through COYB’s Annual Nutcracker Performance at The Midland Theatre
Newark, Ohio (August 13, 2010) - Central Ohio Youth Ballet (COYB) announces a call for dancers for it’s annual Fall Nutcracker performance, held annual on the Midland stage. Auditions will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at The Ballet Academy in Newark. Auditions will begin at 1:00 pm and will last until approximately 7:30 pm. Youth, ages 8 and above, are encouraged to audition. Previous dance experience is desired, but not necessarily required. Dancers who have Pointe experience are encouraged to bring their Pointe shoes.
The audition process for COYB will begin with registration and paperwork. A brief parent meeting will also be conducted at 1:30 p.m., whereby parents can learn more about the audition process, COYB and the performance process overall. All dancers 18 years of age or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the parent meeting. Dancers who are requested for “call backs”, or opportunities to be viewed further, will be notified before the following week’s call back date. Additional information can be found at www.Ballet.org.In previous years, nearly 60 youth dancers from studios across Licking, Knox, Fairfield, Muskingham, Perry and Coshocton counties have auditioned, rehearsed and participated in COYB spring performances. “We are thrilled to bring youth talent from our counties into the spotlight again this year,” shares Denise Crews, President of The Central Ohio Youth Ballet. “The annual Nutcracker performance offers area youth dancers an opportunity to learn more about the art of performance and the arts overall, while also providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform onstage at The Midland Theatre. It's an important initiative."
